RIP Kentaro Miura
Yesterday, mangaka Kentaro Miura died at age 54. I loved reading Berserk, his life-long dark fantasy masterpiece and it's pretty sad we won't see it finished. Every illustration was amazing, his characters interesting and the world he build fascinating, combining elements of European folklore. His work was inspirational to many, like the developers of Dark Souls. May you rest in peace Mr. Miura.
The thing with spambots
I am pretty sure most of us DA users have noticed the problem with spambots lately. If you are not familiar with it, the site has been floded with fake accounts promoting various sites or giveaways, propably malicious. Of course, they are not to be trusted, but people might still fall for the bait or get spammed by multiple accounts. I got such notes twice and couldn't help but noticed a pattern: I was reading a journal linking the fake accounts, without commenting or faving it, and some hours later a bot contacted me. This time I recieved a note claiming I won a giftcard simply by "taking part in" a post, which was I drawing I added to my favorites. However, this still happened after I have read another journal exposing a spambot. My theory is that these spambots have access to the user's IP address and therefore be able to track down whoever is viewing a certain page, be it a piece of artwork or any other post. I think DA doesn't have a strict policy for the viewer's personal
Looking for more active artists
Hello everyone! I've noticed DA is getting very quiet recently... and by recentlyI mean the past few years ^^; I don't get as much feedback as I used to and my favorite artists I've been watching for years are leaving or get inactive. There's really not much to do here. However, I want to still give this place a chance. I need to watch new artists who might need more active watchers.
